چکیده
Rapid urbanization contributes to the development of phenomena such as climate variability, especially in tropical countries, which negatively impact ecosystems and humans, factors that influence urban sustainability. Additionally, increase building construction prevents flow wind streams contributing retention pollutants hot air masses, causing events heat islands (UHI). This study aimed analyze from micro-territorial level, growth on UHI phenomenon over last two decades (2000–2020) locality Kennedy, Bogotá, Colombia. For this purpose, environmental socio-economic were evaluated. former, Landsat satellite images spectral indices used evaluate spatial–temporal variation quantity quality vegetation, bodies water, urbanized areas, impervious surfaces, well calculate land surface temperature its distribution area. With regard factors, variables considered for analysis population density energy consumption. Lastly, a principal component was carried out identify possible associations between contribution each micro-territory The spatio-temporal variations reveal growing trend time, impermeable areas where several economic activities, vehicular traffic, converge, require certain actions be prioritized territorial planning addition public green spaces zones.

Remote sensing for urban heat and cool islands evaluation in semi-arid areas
Cities are experiencing rapid population growth and consequently extensive urbanization. Land-use/land-cover change is one of the important elements worldwide, which significantly affect the environment. This study aims to describe the emergence of urban heat and cool islands as a result of changes in land-use/land-cover. Land surface temperature over a 32-year period in Isfahan city, Iran was ...

Urban sprawl, or the unplanned and uncontrolled spreading out of built-up areas in Zaria urban area causes problems of congestion, poor urban basic infrastructure delivery and poor urban planning. This paper analyzed the pattern and implications of urban sprawl using GIS and Remote sensing as an improved approach to analyze and explain sprawling beyond the traditional spatial or cartographic ma...
متن کاملUrban climates and heat islands: albedo, evapotranspiration, and anthropogenic heat
As an introduction to this special issue on urban heat islands and cool communities, this paper reviews some of the characteristics of urban climates and the causes and effects of urban heat islands. In particular, the impacts of surface albedo, evapotranspiration, and anthropogenic heating on the near-surface climate are discussed. Numerical simulations and field measurements indicate that inc...

متن کاملVariation of daily warm season mortality as a function of micro-urban heat islands
BACKGROUND Little attention has been paid to how heat-related health effects vary with the micro-urban variation of outdoor temperatures. This study explored whether people located in micro-urban heat islands are at higher risk of mortality during hot summer days. METHODS Data used included (1) daily mortality for Montreal (Canada) for June-August 1990-2003, (2) daily mean ambient outdoor tem...
